The Natural History Exploration Guild

The Natural History Exploration Guild (NHEG) was founded by science educator and author Raymond Wiggers to address the existing need to provide lifelong learners and students with a deeper appreciation of both the subject matter and the interrelatedness of what have traditionally been considered separate disciplines within the life and earth sciences. Wiggers' view, that modern natural studies have been too deeply affected by the reductionist approach now so dominant in academic science education and research, suggests that students should learn not only the subject matter of a particular area, but also how that subject matter relates to other aspects of the natural and human worlds. To a person uninstructed  in natural history, his country or sea-side stroll is a walk through a gallery filled with wonderful works of art, nine-tenths of which have their faces turned to the wall.
